Automatic Chemical Mixing:
A Winner!

This project started in 2003 with four quotes over three months, finally resulting in an order in 2004. Wastech shipped the first unit in mid-2004. The application is “automatic chemical mixing.” This is a but one example of custom machinery by Wastech to solve a difficult chemical problem.

This portable unit will mix pesticides for a State of California spraying program. The project started with a “wish list” that resulted in a design and fabrication proposal. The first unit needed to be tested and accepted at Wastech before the second and third units could be fabricated. The customer’s team spent hours evaluating the unit at Wastech's facility and later performed comprehensive testing in the field.

Wastech engineers have designed a solution that provides the customer with a repeatable process. These are difficult liquids combined with a nasty powder resulting in a viscous liquid that defies normal handling. All the ingredients are hazardous. The customer has a solution that eliminates handling issues and insures precise mixing every time. The PLC and simple display counts down pulses and shows status of all components. Mixer has a variable VFD drive, powder hopper has an automatic feed auger and mechanical powder agitator which are both speed controlled and the filling system is custom designed for the customer.
